Big News from NYC – “A Pukwudgie Tale” Takes 2nd Place!

I’m excited to share some awesome news—my composition A Pukwudgie Tale for four guitars took 2nd place in the composition category at the Music International Grand Prix this April in New York City! This competition brings in talent from all over the world, so it was a huge honor just to be in the mix—placing second was the icing on the cake.

Even though the piece wasn’t performed live, it was submitted for judging and reviewed by a panel of professionals. Knowing that my music stood out in that kind of company really means a lot. It’s always rewarding to see your work connect with others, especially in a setting like this.

Big thanks to the folks at the Grand Prix for the recognition. This kind of encouragement keeps me inspired and excited to keep writing. I’ve got a few more ideas cooking already—can’t wait to see where the music goes next!

Highlights from the ASTA National Conference in Atlanta

I had an amazing time at the American String Teachers Association National Conference in Atlanta, GA. I was honored to be there as one of the composers selected for the New Canon Project, an initiative by Rising Tide Music Press. My composition, La Luna Llena (The Full Moon), was performed by the ASTA National Teachers Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Kira Omelchenko.

The response to my piece was incredibly encouraging—so many performers and audience members shared kind words about my music. A common theme in their feedback was the beauty of the inner voices and how well they blended. Dr. Alice Lindsay of the Philadelphia Symphony Camp, a violist herself, told me she was “astounded” by the viola part. She even approached me about composing a piece for her viola camp, which I’m really excited about. I look forward to exploring this new opportunity and continuing to grow as a composer!
