Highlights from the ASTA National Conference in Atlanta

I had an amazing time at the American String Teachers Association National Conference in Atlanta, GA. I was honored to be there as one of the composers selected for the New Canon Project, an initiative by Rising Tide Music Press. My composition, La Luna Llena (The Full Moon), was performed by the ASTA National Teachers Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Kira Omelchenko.

The response to my piece was incredibly encouraging—so many performers and audience members shared kind words about my music. A common theme in their feedback was the beauty of the inner voices and how well they blended. Dr. Alice Lindsay of the Philadelphia Symphony Camp, a violist herself, told me she was “astounded” by the viola part. She even approached me about composing a piece for her viola camp, which I’m really excited about. I look forward to exploring this new opportunity and continuing to grow as a composer!
