Joey Davila - Vocals/Guitar

Joey Davila grew up in Brownsville, TX where he picked up the guitar at the age of 11. At 13yrs. old he was in his first rock band playing parties with musicians twice his age. He soon became a reputable musician in the area and went on tour with “Spanky and the Rascals”, a cover band that played the southern states. After his stint with S&R, Joey focused on his musical studies and earned awards in Music Theory and a scholarship to Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. While in Corpus Christi, Joey played in several cover bands. These bands played in various styles such as Country, Tejano, Blues, Jazz, and Rock. Being a rocker at heart, Joey decided to form his own rock band 7dayz, which played covers and original music. They released their own indie album “All American Life” and won the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, which gave them national exposure and allowed them to open for Kansas and eventually The Outfield, Steppenwolf, Blue Oyster Cult, Vallejo, Diffuser, Chris Duarte, Storyville, Edgar Winter and Nazareth. It was during this time that Joey was deemed, “best guitarist in Corpus Christi” by the Corpus Christi Caller Times. Being the go to guitarist in the area, Joey has even performed with the 50’s group “The Platters” and the Corpus Christi Symphony.

In 1993 Joey married the love of his life, Gloria and also completed his studies earning a Bachelor of Music Education degree.  He then went on to teach classical guitar at a high school in Corpus Christi from 1994 – 2004. In ’04 Joey and Gloria had their son Jaden who has Down Syndrome. Jaden is a wonderful child who exhibits the love of God and has positively changed Joey and Gloria’s lives forever. Prior to Jaden’s birth, Joey was attending Bay Area Fellowship Church (BAF) and performing with the worship team. But it wasn’t until Jaden came around that Joey felt the conviction to jump in with both feet and really give his life and talents to God for the purpose of increasing His Kingdom. In 2004, Joey was hired as Music Director for BAF. His goal in this position was to create a worship team that excelled in musicianship and exhibited God’s love and humility.

By 2008, BAF’s weekend attendance was in excess of 6000 and the worship team had exceeded Joey’s goal. While serving as Music Director at BAF, he started his own music production company called, Unison Productions. He has since written, recorded and produced several jingles for local companies and even produced a children’s music CD for SOFO Entertainment called “Tippi’s Tunes”.

Currently, Joey is serving as Multi-Site Worship Pastor at BAF, which is a huge blessing. It has allowed him to use his musical training to the fullest by overseeing 5 Multi-Site worship teams. Even with the huge task of overseeing multiple worship bands, Joey has never stopped performing, producing, recording or writing music, which has led to the release of his first solo album, “Go Back”.

In “Go Back”, Joey has tapped into all of his influences and has created a Christian album that will appeal to music lovers of all ages and genres. There are hints of country, rock, blues, metal and contemporary worship music in this CD. Well thought out lyrics and masterful guitars thread all nine tracks together in an musical expression of life experiences dependent on the love of Jesus. "My relationship with Christ is the most important thing in my life and I pray that He uses the talents He's given me to reach millions. Not for me, but for Him."
